Peter Richardson, 48, of Bishop Road, Chelmsford has been spared jail after being found guilty of attempting to meet a child for sex.
Richardson was sentenced to 20 months in prison, suspended for 24 months at Basildon Crown Court on Monday 3rd after being found guilty in July.
His trial lasted for just one day on July 24th and saw the jury return a guilty verdict.
Richardson started to message one of our decoy accounts, and turned the conversation sexual within minutes. He went on to say it was wrong and the child was underage.
This did not stop him moving on and asking for naked pictures. After a while a meesage was received saying “F**K it, do you want your C**K sucked?”.
The meeting was arranged at his room in his HMO on Bishop Road in Chelmsford. Essex Police attended and took Richardson into custody.
Richardson claimed he had sent the messages by mistake, stating they were not intended for the child. He claimed that he would have blocked the child’s account but run out of blocks. This again was all lies, as the app offers unlimited blocks and the ability to report the profile as underage.
When his mobile was downloaded by the Police, it was relevant that Richardson was also in contact with another child under the age of 16, but this never resulted in any physical contact.
Richardson has been proven to be a prolific liar, and to be a risk to our children. The question is, will he re-offend again.
He was sentenced to 20 months suspended for 2 years, ordered to attend the Horizon programme for sex offenders, 30 days rehabilitation activity days with the Probation Service, to observe a curfew of 10pm – 6am and be electronically tagged for 6 months. He also received a Sexual Harm Prevention order for 10 years along with a Notification Requirement for 10 years.
It was ordered that his mobile was to be destroyed, due to the content of the chat logs.
